Bdifferent – Financial Services Research

Challenge

Bdifferent were looking to break into markets in Asia, in particular Singapore and Hong Kong, in order to spread risk away from relying solely on the UK. Project B Different were looking to break into markets in Asia, in particular Singapore and Hong Kong. They saw potential for their syndicated studies with the growth of financial services products in the region and also wanted to spread risk away from relying solely on the UK.

Solution

CB Trade Support started by creating a realistic export plan to identify the steps needed to achieve their ambitions. This consisted of a mix of training to gain a better understanding of what exporting involves and one to one guidance. Introductions were made to suitable contacts in both Singapore and Hong Kong, which they then followed up with visits to those countries. This was not an overnight process – it involved several visits to the countries to build up buyer confidence and the setting up of a serviced office in Singapore.

Results

Bdifferent now has regular work in Asia and are looking to expand further, including to the UAE. During a downturn in the UK market, they were delighted that the business in Asia more than compensated and enabled the company to continue to grow.

“Always a pleasure to deal with and full of advice and encouragement, Carolyn was instrumental in BDifferent’s launch in Asia, giving us the confidence to ‘just do it’ and helping steer us in the right direction for information and support. We always look forward to our meetings with her and she always has a nugget of useful advice to provide.”
